Dear Parents and Guardians,
d’Iberville High School is a Title I school. This means the school receives federal monies to supplement local and state funding. Title I funding provides for staffing an Instructional Coach, Interventionist, and Tutor. The school may purchase additional professional development for our teachers, may purchase additional supplies, and may purchase additional equipment to increase student achievement in reading, math, and science.
This fund also provides parents a voice in expressing how funds may be used by eliciting feedback on the Title I School Plan, School Compact and Family Engagement Policy and providing frequent parent meetings (virtually or in person). In addition, 1% of the school’s Title I budget must be spent on Family Engagement. Every year in the Comprehensive Needs Assessment survey, sent annually in the month of February, parents are asked their preference in how these funds should be spent at the school level. d’iberville High School’s parents responded by selecting communication and technology. Also, due to participating in Title I, each parent should be familiar with the “Parent’s Right to Know.” This explains that a parent has a right to know the credentials of any teacher or teacher’s assistant that provides instruction for his or her child and if a teacher is not state certified in the subject for which he or she instructs. The procedure for requesting this information is to contact the school to make a request with the administration.
In addition to Title I, d’Iberville High School also benefits from Title II (professional development for teachers and staff), Title III (English Learners), Title IV (well rounded, safe/healthy, use of technology), McKinney-Vento (homeless assistance act), Gifted and IDEA (special needs). We also operate in conjunction with USDA (cafeteria services), Head Starts, and other programs funded by the federal, state, and local governments. These grants are administered by various people and are coordinated through the district office.
d’Iberville High School honors each child’s right to privacy by adhering to FERPA, PPRA and COPPA. For this reason, the school will not disclose any personally identifiable information (PII) about any student without the written consent of the parent or guardian in accordance with federal legislation. Furthermore, DHS provides the strictest measures possible to ensure online safety for students when using district owned devices and do not solicit personal information about students unless necessary, ensuring that all data collected from students is disposed of properly and confidentially.
d’Iberville High School uses a variety of instructional resources for the following courses/subjects: English Language Arts/Reading/Grammar, Math, Science, and Social Studies which are commensurate with the rigor of the MS College and Career curriculum standards in order to provide all students with a quality education. This includes but is not limited to teacher created materials, supplemental instructional materials, and district approved resources, programs, and texts.
Thank you,
Cheri Broadus, Principal
